Take Control of Pain | Advice for Relief of Chronic Pain

Hello everybody and welcome to Take Control of Pain!

This is a new resource for everything related to the diagnosis, treatment and management of chronic pain conditions. Many of you will have tried some treatments for your pain condition (which may not have helped), some of you may be experiencing long term pain and not understand what is happening, or you may have a friend or relative in chronic pain. I am creating this resource for all of you, and all for free!

You may have been diagnosed with a pain condition, such low back pain, fibromyalgia or sciatica (there are many more), or your doctor may not be able to give you a diagnosis. All you know is that you are in pain a lot of the time and you want to do something about it. This is the place to find out all you need to know about the causes and the treatment of pain, so be sure to follow my blog to be informed of the latest updates.

My goal is to offer you only scientifically backed information about pain and the treatment of pain. The web is full of subjective opinions, sweeping generalisations and lots (lots!) of hype. I’m a strong believer in evidence-based content… content that is backed up by real and credible scientific research. That’s why you will see a list of references at the bottom of my articles.

To make it simple, what you see on this site is NOT just my personal opinion. It’s the conclusion of pain scientists and doctors all over the world… scientists and doctors who don’t have ulterior motives, that aren’t trying to sell you magic pills or the latest contraption and aren’t being paid off by big pharmaceutical companies.

Successfully beating chronic pain is possible, I have seen it! The key to a better life with less pain and suffering is simple, it doesn’t have to cost you any money and you don’t need to see countless doctors, specialists and alternative therapists for it to work..

I believe I am qualified to talk with authority about what works and what doesn’t work for long term pain conditions. I have degrees in psychology and neuroscience, and I am currently writing my thesis on the science of chronic pain management. Whilst doing my degrees I have published articles in respected medical journals about pain science, given presentations at international conferences and taught university students on pain management. I am a member of the International Association for the Study of Pain, The British Pain Society, Pain Concern, The Society for Neuroscience and a Member of the British Psychological Society.

I have also been fortunate enough to work alongside pain specialists in the NHS, and have been involved in the successful treatment of hundreds of patients passing through the NHS pain management program. I have seen what works and what doesn’t first hand.

It all comes down to how much YOU want it. You need to understand your condition, how it effects you personally and how you can take control of pain to minimize the impact it has on your life. This is what the resources on this site are designed for. You can keep coming back to learn more about pain conditions, pick up tips on pain management and learn how to measure the success that you will achieve.

I want you to beat this pain, and we can do it together!

I wish you all the best

Nick
